The path to more motivation

New Learning
Motivation means starting the day bursting with creativity and anticipation as well as approaching your projects with courage and vigor. If this skill is so important, how can we increase it?
We talked to Daniela Horn about this. Daniela is an NLP coach and yoga teacher. Through her daily work, she provides power and motivation not only for herself but for others as well. Daniela wants to share these four tips with the cAPPabilities community:
1. Recognize/know yourself.
The biggest leverage you can apply is to do something you genuinely like. But how do you find out what that is? Simply by trying it out! That’s the only way to learn what you like, what you’re good at, and what is currently in demand. Early in life, Daniela tried yoga and coaching after a few other activities and realized that they gave her a lot of joy. She was aided by her curiosity, open-mindedness for new things, as well as people she met along the way, who gave her a helping hand.
2. Appreciate the impact of your work
What are the exact direct and indirect consequences of my work? Who benefits from it? Daniela draws a lot of motivation from the fact that she helps her clients to feel better. Through our work, we either produce something tangible in the form of goods or provide services for someone. Even in jobs where your effort is often not visible or appreciated, you are still part of a bigger picture. In the end, people are happy about the goods or services provided, as they represent additional benefits for them.
3. Simplify the good
Living and working environments play a critical role in day-to-day motivation. They should be designed to simplify desirable practices and make undesirable ones more difficult. For example, Daniela sets up her equipment for early morning exercise the day before, so her early morning routine is as simple as possible and leaves no room for doubts and excuses. Accordingly, you should be clear in your mind about which practices you wish to maintain and simplify and which are currently proving too difficult to perform.
4. Assess things from a new angle and look at positive aspects
Perception and evaluation have a decisive influence on our motivation. Many of us are dominated by a critical view of the world and what is happening around us. Daniela recommends gratitude as the first step. To be grateful for the opportunities that life and the day offer. The second step is to identify and perceive positive things. Just jot down at the end of the day all the good things that have happened. The third step concerns mentally anticipating situations and visualizing success. These steps are the basis for further confidence-building which finally lead to the success of our projects.
We want to thank Daniela for the inspiring and motivating interview!
